Answer
Vijay Singh squeezed the egg and crackling of egg-shell created an illusion of the stone being crushed. He used the lump of salt to crumble it and break like a stone. In this way by using the egg and salt, he surprised the ghost.
2. Why did Vijay Singh conclude that the ghost would not be a worthy opponent to him? Was he fair in his judgement?
Answer
Vijay Singh was successful in befooling the ghost by crushing the egg and crumbling the lump of salt instead of a stone. The ghost failed to crush the stone so Vijay Singh concluded that the ghost would not be a worthy opponent to him. No, he was not fair in his judgement because he only befooled him though he was not stonger than the ghost.
3. Why did Vijay Singh ask the ghost to accompany him to town next day?
Answer
Vijay Singh asked the ghost to accompany him to town next day because he wanted his people to show that he had defeated the ghost and show him as a trophy.
4. What made the ghost believe Vijay Singh was dead?
Answer
The ghost didn't heard a sound of groan when he struck bolster seven times on Vijay Singh and thus it made him believe that Vijay Singh is dead.
5. Vijay Singh complained of insects in the cave. What was he referring to, and why?
Answer
Vijay Singh referring to seven hardly struck bolster on his bed by complaining it as seven bites of insects. He did so to prove him stronger that the ghost.
6. Was it really a ghost who Vijay Singh befooled? Who do you think it was?
Answer
No, it was not really a ghost who Vijay Singh befooled. The ghost never looted the property of others because they have no use of that. Also, there are no existence of ghost in human form. I think it was a robber who used rob property of people and taken a shape of ghost to introduce his fear.
