Latest Class 11 English Elective Syllabus 2019-20
CBSE has released the Class 11 English Core Syllabus 2019-20. The annual board examination will be of 80 marks, with a duration of three hours. There will be Smeinar for 20 Marks.

Section A - Reading
An unseen passage and a poem
1.The section will have 12 questions including 6 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ),i.e. 6 MCQs from a Literary or Discursive passage of about 900-950 words, and 6 Objective Type questions (1✕12=12 marks)
2. 04 Short Answer Questions to be answered in 50-60 words. It shall beasked from a poem of about 20-24 lines to test interpretation and appreciation. (2✕4=8 marks)
Section B - Creative Writing Skills
1. One Very Long Answer Question out of two to be answered in 150-200 words.
An essay - (10✕1=10 marks)
2. One Very Long Answer Question out of two to be answered in 150-200 words.
A composition such as an article / a report /a speech - (10✕1=10 marks)
Section C - Literature
A. Literature Textbook
1. Eight Objective type Questions out of 09 - (1✕8=8 marks)
2. Three Short Answer Questions out of 04 to be answered in 50-60 words - (2✕3=6 marks)
3. One Long Answer Questions out of 02 to be answered in 120-150 words - (1✕6=6 marks)
B. Arms and the Man - [Drama]
Two Long Answer Questions out of three to be answered in 80-100 word - (5✕2=10 marks)
C. Fiction
1. Two Short Answer Questions out of three to be answered in 50-60 words - (2✕2=4 marks)
2. One Long Answer Question out of 02 to be answered in 120-150 words - (6✕1=6 marks)
