Latest CBSE Class 10th Syllabus of English Communicative 2018-19

CBSE has released the Class 10th syllabus of English Communicative. In the class 9th, CBSE has removed the communicative course and there is major chance that this course will be dropped from the next session. However, in this session English Communicative course is present.

There is no major change has been made in the syllabus and the pattern and it is same as the previous year. In Board examination, the entire syllabus will come. The Board examination will be of 80 marks, with a duration of three hours.

The Question paper contains three sections:

Section A Reading: 20 Marks

• Question 1: A Factual passage (Eight VSAQs) : 8 Marks
• Question 2: A Discursive passage (Four SAQs and Four VSAQs) : 12 Marks

Section B Writing and Grammar: 30 Marks

• Question 3: Diary/Article (based on MCB): 8 Marks
• Question 4: Short story based on clues: 12 Marks
• Question 5: Gap filling with one or two words: 3 Marks
• Question 6: Editing or Omission: 4 Marks
• Question 7: Sentences Reordering or Sentence Transformation: 3 Marks

 Section C Literature Textbook and Extended Reading Text: 30 Marks

• Question 8: One out of two extracts from prose/poetry/play (Four VSAQs): 4 Marks
• Question 9: Four SAQs from the Literature Reader: 2 ✖ 4 = 8 Marks
• Question 10: One out of two long answer type questions: 8 Marks
• Question 11: One out of two Very Long Answer Question on prescribed novel: 10 Marks
